Learn to dance…
Mocitos Dance School was founded in 2019 by Luis ‘Mocito’ Salazar Tavera (former owner of Salsamoso dance company). Here you will learn the authentic Cuban Salsa, as well as Bachata, Kizomba, Rueda de Casino and other dance styles, with that specific Mocito Flavour.
…and have fun
Dancing Salsa is not only about learning the steps by well trained teachers, it is also about having fun and meeting new people. That’s why we invite you to have a drink at the bar before or after your class and visit our weekly Salsa social The Meeting Point or our occasional Mocito Flavour parties, to practise your moves on the dance floor.
OUR DANCE CLASSES
At Mocitos we’ll teach you to dance the authentic Cuban Salsa, or ‘Casino’ as they call it on the island itself. From dile que no to setenta complicado, and the numerous variations that you can combine with these moves.
This romantic dance in four-quarter time has its origins in the Dominican Republic. At Mocitos we offer you a fusion of Bachata Romantica, Dominicana and Sensual.
The ‘African Tango’, as this slow and sensual dance from Angola is nicknamed, has obvious influences from the Argentinian Tango and Brazilian Zouk. Our classes are a fusion of Kizomba Traditional and Urban Kizz.
rueda de casino
While you are dancing ‘Salsa in a circle’ in pairs, you have to respond within 3 seconds to the move the caller shouts out loud. Absolute fun guaranteed, as well as a very fast improvement of your Salsa dancing.
Before there was Salsa there was Son. ‘The Mother of Salsa’ is danced contra tiempo (On 2) and has its origins in Eastern Cuba in the late 19th century.
These ritual dances were brought to Cuba by African slaves. Every orisha (saint) that is being expressed has its own rhythm of the drums.
One of the dance styles that has influenced Salsa is Rumba. Mastering sub genres like Yambo and Guaguancó can really spice up your Salsa dancing.
Man & Lady Styling
Learn to move on the dance floor like a Latino or Latina, with body isolations to loosen up your body, short choreographies and influences from other dance styles like Salsa, Son Cubano, Rumba and Reggaeton.
